Yesterday, a coalition, including two members of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, announced a news conference in front of the Johnson County jail.
Today, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department announced on Facebook:
Due to a planned protest in front of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office tomorrow, October 9th, our public lobby will be closing at 11:30am. Access to the jail will be limited to law enforcement personnel only. We apologize for any inconvenience.
That, as the kids say, escalated quickly.
It seems just a little bit like one branch of the county government — the one with guns and a tank — firing a warning shot at another. I hope the Sheriff’s Department doesn’t get out of hand.
